49ers Announce Kyle Shanahan As The New Head Coach

49ers Name New Head Coach

The worst kept secret within the NFL was made official late Monday evening as the San Francisco 49ers named Kyle Shanahan as their new Head Coach. Shanahan is believed to have put pen to paper on a six year contract as he becomes the 49ers 20th Head Coach. The task of turning around a team that’s won just seven games in its last thirty-two outings, is a daunting one.

Shanahan’s appointment comes off the back of a phenomenal year as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. Shanahan turned Matt Ryan into the leagues MVP and set numerous offensive records throughout the 2016 season.

Shanahan on being named the Head coach of the 49ers: Its is truly an honor to be named head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, As this team begins the task of reestablishing that standard, I could not ask for a better partner than (General Manager) John Lynch. I look forward to establishing a strong culture that will serve as our foundation for constructing this team.

Owner Jed York: This is a very exciting day for the San Francisco 49ers and our fans, throughout this process we learned many things about Kyle that convinced us he is the perfect coach to lead this team. Over the years, he has proven to be one of the brightest minds in the game of football and his recent success speaks for itself.
